Kv7.2/7.3 ACTIVATORS OF VOLTAGE-GATED POTASSIUM CHANNELS
Kv7.2/7.3 is a voltage-gated potassium channel in the brain. Opening this channel creates an ion flux referred to as a “M current.” M current is known to critically regulate neuronal excitability.
Our Kv7 potassium channel platform supports the development of small-molecule treatments within our portfolio. The Kv7 potassium channels are intimately involved in regulating the communication between neurons through electrical impulses and neurotransmitter release. Dysregulation of ion channel function can lead to abnormal and uncontrolled communications.
Our Kv7 platform offers therapeutic opportunity in multiple disease states beyond epilepsy, including developmental and epileptic encephalopathies, neuropsychiatric disorders, pain, and other disorders.
